Dalkia has installed the building management system at Sony's UK Technology Centre and will manage and operate the system over the next three years.
Sony's new BMS covers a wide range of plant including boilers, heating, heat distribution pumps, hot and cold water systems, air handling, extractor fans, lighting, fire alarms and gas supply controls.
The BMS is programmed to meet both the temperatures required for production of Sony's professional cameras and systems and the comfort of staff and visitors.
Before the installation of the BMS, temperature within different areas of the building could fluctuate by as much as 4°C, affecting the production in critical process areas. This has now been greatly improved, with the differential below 2°C.
An independent assessment of the new system demonstrates a 50 per cent reduction in air handling running costs, representing a saving of more than 1,000,000 Kwh / year.
