Wates Facilities Management has been appointed by Smart DCC to deliver a total facilities management (TFM) solution at its new secure facility in Greater Manchester.

Wates will carry out statutory compliance management through its in-house Assurance Compliance Tool.

Smart DCC is a data communications company responsible for establishing and managing the infrastructure necessary to support the main roll-out of millions of smart electricity and gas meters to homes and small non-domestic properties across Great Britain.

Its new facility is a complex of laboratories, offices and collaborative spaces that have been developed to enable the UK to meet its domestic smart energy metering targets. Smart DCC will share space at the site with leading communications and technology companies.

James Gregg, managing director of Wates FM, said: “Our teams both understand and embrace the unique challenges of supporting data environments and meeting compliance standards, making us well placed to support the delivery of this vital service.

“Of equal importance to our contracts is the ability to add value through the use of sustainable technologies and by partnering with social enterprises [SE] within the supply chain community as part of our commitment to contribute to the Wates Group’s nationwide target to spend £20 million with the SE sector by 2020. We look forward to working with the team going forward.”
